**Alappuzha, Kerala:** Five first-year MBBS students were killed and six others seriously injured in a tragic car accident in Alappuzha, Kerala, on [Date of incident]. The accident occurred at around 9:30 PM near the Kalarkode junction when a car carrying 11 students collided with a KSRTC fast passenger bus traveling from Vyttila to Kayamkulam. Two students died at the scene, and three more succumbed to their injuries at Vandanam Medical College Hospital.
The deceased students have been identified as Shrideep (Palakkad), Muhammed Ibrahim (Lakshadweep), Ayush Shaji (Alappuzha), Muhammed Jabbar (Kannur), and Devanand (Malappuram). All were reportedly traveling together to watch a movie. Four passengers on the KSRTC bus also sustained injuries.
The eight-seater car was carrying 11 students, and the impact of the collision caused significant damage to the vehicle. Firefighters had to cut through the wreckage to rescue the occupants. Heavy rain at the time of the accident is believed to have contributed to the collision, with eyewitnesses reporting that the car skidded before hitting the bus.
Health Minister Veena George expressed deep sorrow over the incident and assured that those injured would receive the best possible medical care. The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
