**Alappuzha, Kerala:** Five medical students perished in a head-on collision between a car and a KSRTC Superfast bus near Kalarkode in Alappuzha district. The deceased, identified as Sreedeep (Palakkad), Muhammed Ibrahim (Lakshadweep), Muhammed Jabbar (Kannur), Ayush Shaji (Alappuzha), and Devanand (Malappuram), were all students at Alappuzha Medical College. One student died at the scene, while four succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
Eyewitnesses reported that the car, which was completely wrecked in the accident, collided with the oncoming KSRTC bus traveling from Vyttila to Kayamkulam. Rescue workers had to cut through the wreckage to extricate the students. A passenger in the front seat of the bus also sustained injuries. The accident is currently under investigation.
