NEW DELHI – The Indian government informed the Lok Sabha today that Rs 6,967 crore worth of Rs 2,000 banknotes are yet to be returned to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). As of the 1st of this month, Rs 3.48 lakh crore worth of the demonetized notes have been returned. This represents a significant portion of the notes still outstanding since the withdrawal of the currency from circulation.
