**TIRUPATI, December 2, 2024** – The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has fulfilled a long-standing request from local residents by introducing special darshan tokens for Lord Venkateswara. Approximately 2,500 tokens were distributed on Monday through six new counters in Tirupati, with an additional 500 issued at a community hall in Balaji Nagar, Tirumala.
TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary assured the public that the allocation of tokens balances the needs of both local residents and out-of-town pilgrims, with no reduction in quotas for those traveling from afar. This initiative, approved by the newly formed TTD Trust Board on November 18th, will grant local residents darshan on the first Tuesday of each month.
TTD Chairman B. R. Naidu praised officials for implementing the program within three weeks of its approval. Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasulu criticized the previous government for ending the local darshan program and thanked the current NDA government for keeping its electoral promise.
