**Chennai, [Date]** – Skoda Auto India has launched its first compact SUV, the KUSHAQ, in the Indian market, marking its entry into a highly competitive segment. The KUSHAQ is available in four variants: Classic, Signature, Signature+, and Prestige. The base model, the Classic, is priced at ₹7.89 lakh.
Powered by a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine, the KUSHAQ offers both 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options. This engine delivers 115hp of power and 178Nm of torque. All variants of the KUSHAQ will come with the automatic gearbox option.
Skoda has packed the KUSHAQ with features including a 10-inch infotainment display, 17-inch alloy wheels, auto-dimming IRVM, powered sunroof, ventilated leather seats, cruise control, paddle shifters, and powered front seats. While smaller than the Kushaq, the KUSHAQ offers several additional features compared to its predecessor.
The KUSHAQ will compete directly with established players in the compact SUV segment, including the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. This launch signifies Skoda’s expansion into a new market segment in India, previously focusing on mid-size SUVs and sedans.
