**RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM, Andhra Pradesh –** East Godavari Superintendent of Police D. Narasimha Kishore returned 450 stolen mobile phones to their owners on Monday. The phones were recovered and traced using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) database, a national initiative of the Ministry of Communications.

Mr. Kishore urged all mobile phone users to register their devices on the CEIR website (https://www.ceir.gov.in/) to aid in the recovery of stolen phones. He highlighted the ease of tracing stolen phones registered on the system and warned against purchasing stolen phones. He also noted that a successful first phase of the initiative in West Godavari district has already resulted in the recovery of 1,843 stolen mobile phones. The police continue to encourage citizens to utilize this national resource to combat mobile phone theft.
