**TIRUPPUR, December 2, 2024** – Tiruppur district has recorded significantly higher-than-average rainfall this year, exceeding even its normal annual total. According to district administration data, rainfall has reached 663.73 mm, surpassing the normal November-end total of 557.6 mm by 106.13 mm, and exceeding the normal annual total of 618.20 mm.
The Agriculture Department has assured farmers of sufficient seed stocks for paddy and pulses, with substantial reserves of various fertilizers also available. However, at a recent grievances redressal meeting, farmers raised several concerns. These included crop damage caused by wild boars, water theft from irrigation canals, and groundwater pollution from coir pith. Farmers also requested the supply of coconut and coconut oil through fair price shops and the establishment of a Noyyal Irrigation Committee. A total of 252 petitions were submitted during the meeting.
