Mon Dec 02 13:06:07 UTC 2024: ## Coimbatore Medical Student Dies, Food Poisoning Suspected

**COIMBATORE, December 2, 2024** – A 22-year-old second-year MBBS student, T. Keerthana, died on Sunday morning under suspected circumstances of food poisoning, police said. Keerthana, a resident of Kurudampalayam village in Coimbatore, was a student at a private medical college in the city.

According to a police complaint filed by her father, Mr. Thiyagarajan, Keerthana consumed egg puffs and tea for lunch at a private hospital on Puliyakulam Road after visiting a relative, and parotta from a local hotel for dinner around 9:30 pm on Saturday. She was found unconscious at 9:30 am on Sunday and was pronounced dead at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

While food poisoning is suspected, the exact cause of death will be determined following a post-mortem examination. A case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The family hails from Thalaikundha in the Nilgiris and had been residing in Coimbatore for the past six months.
