**New Delhi:** The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are set to install nameplates outside each MP’s seat, displaying both their name and division number, sources confirmed. The installation is underway, aiming to improve the identification of members during sessions. Each MP’s division number is crucial for vote registration during parliamentary proceedings.
However, the new nameplates come amidst a brewing controversy over seat allocation. Trinamool Congress leader Sudip Bandopadhyay has objected to the seating arrangement, noting that while he is in the front row, his party colleagues are seated further back, behind Union Ministers Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi. Similarly, the Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav’s front-row seat, distant from Congress leaders, has also drawn criticism. The Congress reportedly plans to request the government to relocate Yadav to sit closer to Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi. The seating dispute highlights ongoing tensions and maneuvering within the Parliament.
