Mon Dec 02 10:10:00 UTC 2024: ## UFC Snub Makes Brendan Loughnane a Multi-Millionaire
**Riyadh, Saudi Arabia** – Brendan Loughnane, a 34-year-old featherweight fighter, is proving that sometimes, rejection can be a blessing. Five years ago, a last-second takedown in a UFC Contender Series fight cost him a UFC contract. UFC President Dana White cited the move as the reason for rejecting Loughnane, despite acknowledging his skill and potential.
Loughnane, however, found a lucrative home with the Professional Fighters League (PFL). He’s now a multi-millionaire, having won the PFL featherweight championship in 2022, earning him a $1 million prize. He’s set to defend his title and potentially win another million dollars this Friday against undefeated Timur Khizriev (17-0) in Riyadh.
“Frustrating at the time, but in hindsight, it’s made me a multi-millionaire, so I’m pretty happy,” Loughnane told Mirror Fighting. “I’m most definitely better off in the PFL, trust me on that.”
Loughnane’s journey to the finals has been impressive, showcasing his striking prowess against tough opponents. He believes his experience and peak performance at age 34 will be key to defeating Khizriev, a renowned grappler. “I think I stop him,” Loughnane predicted. “I think he’s gonna get tired, try to take me down, and I think I stop him in the later rounds.”
The fight will be broadcast on DAZN, which is also showcasing Saudi Pro League football matches, including those featuring Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mané.
