Mon Dec 02 12:13:24 UTC 2024: ## Dua Lipa Responds to Viral Mumbai Concert Mashup, Son of Original Singer Criticizes Omission

**Mumbai, Dec 2 (IANS)** – Pop star Dua Lipa has responded to the internet frenzy surrounding her surprise performance of a mashup of her hit song “Levitating” and the Bollywood classic “Woh Ladki Jo Sabse Alag Hai” at her recent Mumbai concert. Lipa, in a comment on a fan’s Instagram reel, simply stated, “I Had to. Too much fun!!”

The mashup, created by DJ Ruchir, unexpectedly delighted the Mumbai audience. However, the performance has sparked controversy. Jay Bhattacharya, son of the original singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, criticized the lack of acknowledgment given to his father’s contribution to the song. In an Instagram post, he expressed disappointment that neither the media nor Dua Lipa recognized Abhijeet’s vocal contribution, highlighting the perceived tendency to focus on actors rather than singers in the Indian entertainment industry. He emphasized that the song’s popularity is due to the contributions of his father and composer Anu Malik.

Dua Lipa previously stated she was “blown away” by the viral mashup when she heard it. Her performance at the Zomato Feeding India Concert in Bandra Kurla Complex further propelled the track into the spotlight, reigniting the debate about credit and recognition within the music industry.
