**New Delhi:** Avadh Ojha, a renowned UPSC exam coach with a massive social media following, joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday. The move, witnessed by former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, is seen as a strategic attempt by the AAP to garner student support ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections.

Ojha’s induction has been met with immediate criticism from the Delhi BJP, which circulated old videos of Ojha criticizing Kejriwal and the AAP, particularly regarding the Delhi excise policy. The BJP highlighted these videos to portray Ojha as a “U-turn master.” In response, the AAP countered with videos showing Ojha praising Kejriwal.

Ojha, who boasts over 2.2 million Instagram followers, has previously expressed political ambitions, reportedly seeking a Lok Sabha ticket from Prayagraj. He has also publicly commented on various political figures, praising both Kejriwal and Akhilesh Yadav, while expressing preference for Rahul Gandhi over Priyanka Gandhi.

When questioned about his future political plans, Ojha stated he would follow the party’s directives. Kejriwal, in response, playfully suggested maintaining some suspense. The AAP’s reception of Ojha mirrors its previous welcoming of retired JNU professor Anand Kumar, although Kumar’s subsequent political activity within the party has been largely unseen. Whether Ojha will enjoy similar success or face a similar fate remains to be seen. Ojha has been coaching students for the UPSC exam for the past 22 years.
