Bundi, Rajasthan: A 60-year-old woman from Shahpura district was brutally assaulted and branded a witch in Hindoli, Bundi district, Rajasthan. According to police, the woman, suffering from stomach pain, was taken to a makeshift shrine in the forest by her family members seeking a cure. At the shrine, run by Babulal Reger, she was allegedly tortured, branded with hot irons, had her hair cut, and her face blackened. She was also reportedly bound and held captive.
Hindoli police station officer Pawan Kumar Meena stated that a case has been registered against Babulal Reger and four to five others involved in the incident. The victim has received medical attention and the police are investigating the matter. The complaint alleges that the family was advised to visit the shrine after someone suggested it would cure her stomach pain. Those named in the FIR, along with several unidentified individuals, are accused of physically assaulting and branding the woman. The incident highlights the ongoing issue of superstition and violence against women in the region.
