**Saharsa, Bihar:** Harshvardhan Singh, a 2023 batch IPS officer from Saharsa district, Bihar, tragically died in a road accident in Karnataka on Sunday evening. The 26-year-old officer, who hailed from Fatehpur Padria village under Sonbarsa Raj police station, was on his way to his posting in Hisal when his vehicle reportedly suffered a tire blowout, resulting in a fatal accident. He was only 10 kilometers away from his destination. The driver sustained serious injuries.
Singh’s first posting after completing his training in Mysore was as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Hisal. His family shared that he had resigned from two jobs before clearing the IPS exam. His father, Akhilesh Singh, is an SDM in Madhya Pradesh, and his younger brother is an IIT engineer preparing for the UPSC exam.
The news of Singh’s death caused widespread grief in his village and among his relatives. Locals described him as humble and unassuming, despite his prestigious position. His body will be flown from Karnataka to Patna and his last rites are scheduled for Tuesday in his native village. Saharsa police are awaiting the arrival of the body.
