**Sharjah, December 3, 2024** – India dominated Japan in their Under-19 Asia Cup clash today, securing a resounding 211-run victory at Sharjah. Winning the toss, Japan opted to field first, a decision they would soon regret.
India posted a tournament-high 339/6 in their 50 overs, surpassing the previous highest score of 324 runs made by UAE against Japan on November 30th. Captain Mohammad Aman led the charge with an unbeaten 122 off 116 balls, a masterful innings studded with powerful strokes. Ayush Mhatre (54 off 29) and Kartikeya KP (50 off 50) also contributed significantly to the massive total. Kiffer Yamamoto Lake and Hugh Kelly took two wickets each for Japan.
In reply, Japan’s innings never gained momentum, collapsing to 128/8 at the close of their 50 overs. Hugh Kelly top-scored with 50 runs, but received little support from his teammates. Hardik Raj, KP Kartikeya, and Chetan Sharma each claimed two wickets for India, dismantling the Japanese batting lineup.
Aman’s century, along with the impressive half-centuries from Mhatre and Kartikeya KP, proved too much for Japan to overcome. The Indian bowlers maintained consistent pressure throughout the Japanese innings, preventing any significant partnerships from forming.
