Sat Nov 30 22:00:00 UTC 2024: ## West Indies Pace Bowling Dominates Shortened Second Test Day
**Dhaka, Bangladesh** – The second Test match between Bangladesh and the West Indies got off to a rain-affected start, with only 30 overs possible on day one due to a wet outfield. Despite the limited play, West Indies’ pace attack, spearheaded by Kemar Roach, made significant inroads into the Bangladesh batting line-up.
Roach claimed two early wickets, dismissing Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Mominul Haque, both caught. His disciplined line and length, coupled with lateral movement, proved too much for the Bangladesh openers. Roach attributed his success to consistent bowling in a good channel. “The pitch is a pretty good batting pitch, so it’s all about staying consistent,” he commented.
Despite the West Indies’ bowling dominance, Bangladesh’s batsmen, particularly Shadman Islam, capitalized on several dropped catches. Islam reached a well-deserved fifty, having been dropped twice. Shahadat Hossain also benefited from a dropped catch. The sloppy fielding, including two dropped catches by Athanaze at second slip, prevented the West Indies from making further inroads.
Play was repeatedly interrupted by poor light, eventually ending prematurely. A 15-minute early start is scheduled for day two. The match remains evenly poised, with Bangladesh’s batting line-up yet to fully consolidate their position against a persistent Windies pace attack.
