Sun Dec 01 00:23:09 UTC 2024: ## India’s U-19 Team Suffers Opening Defeat Against Pakistan in Asia Cup

**Dubai, UAE:** India’s Under-19 cricket team started their Asia Cup campaign with a disappointing 43-run loss to Pakistan in their opening Group 3 match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Chasing a challenging 282-run target, India were bowled out for 238 in 47.1 overs. This is India’s fifth loss to Pakistan in the history of the Under-19 Asia Cup.

Pakistan’s innings was anchored by a magnificent century from Shahzeb Khan (159 runs, including 5 fours and 10 sixes), who dominated the Indian bowling attack. Usman Khan Jr. also contributed a valuable half-century. Samarth Nagraj (3 wickets) and Ayush Mhatre (2 wickets) were the most successful Indian bowlers.

India’s chase got off to a shaky start, losing early wickets. Nishil Kumar offered some resistance with a well-played half-century (67 runs), but it wasn’t enough to prevent a comprehensive defeat.

Despite the setback, India still have a chance to qualify for the semi-finals. They will face Japan in their next match, followed by a crucial encounter against hosts UAE. Winning both remaining matches would secure their progression to the knockout stage. The match was broadcast live on Sony Sports Network, with live streaming available on the SonyLIV app.
