**NEW DELHI —** The Congress party has announced it will contest all 70 seats in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, rejecting any alliance with other parties. State Congress chief Devender Yadav, speaking after a Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, stated that the party’s Chief Minister candidate will be chosen after the election, mirroring their past strategy.
Yadav, criticizing the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP, cited widespread public dissatisfaction with governance issues. He highlighted concerns over delayed pension payments, ration card distribution, poor road conditions, rampant pollution, youth unemployment, and inflation impacting women. He dismissed the AAP’s Mohalla Clinics as mere “show pieces,” branding the overall situation as the “Kejriwal model.”
The Congress, which held power in Delhi for 15 years but failed to win a single seat in the last two Assembly elections, has appointed Priyavrat Singh as the war room chairman for the upcoming polls. This follows the party’s recent poor performance in the Maharashtra and Haryana elections, which prompted the CWC meeting.
Meanwhile, the BJP, buoyed by its recent Maharashtra victory, is also gearing up for the Delhi polls. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva expressed confidence in a similar victory in the capital, citing enthusiasm among party workers following a recent address by Prime Minister Modi. The BJP’s Manifesto Committee has already begun its work, aiming to present a vision of a “clean, corruption-free Delhi.”
