**VISAKHAPATNAM, November 30, 2024** – Visakhapatnam district is targeting ambitious growth under the Swarna Andhra 2047 plan, aiming for a 15% increase in primary and secondary sector output and a doubling of its GDP contribution from the current ₹4.5 lakh crore, District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad announced Saturday.

Speaking at the 10th Property Expo, Prasad outlined key initiatives. Boosting horticulture, vegetable, fruit production, food processing, and fish exports will drive the primary sector. Greenfield projects will spearhead the secondary sector’s growth. A new single-window system for approvals aims to streamline business processes and attract investment.

Significant investments in underground drainage, water supply, and beautification projects are underway as part of the Smart City initiative. NITI Aayog’s designation of Visakhapatnam as a growth hub has also spurred the identification of further investment opportunities.

VMRDA Commissioner K.S. Viswanathan highlighted plans for tourism expansion through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), focusing on adventure sports and convention facilities. Comprehensive road development, with all Road Development Projects (RDPs) slated for completion within a year, is also underway.

Joint Collector K. Mayur Ashok detailed the use of drone and rover technology for improved land surveying and the effective Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS). CREDAI Visakhapatnam Chapter president V. Dharmender praised the administration’s efforts to improve sand supply, easing construction project timelines. These combined initiatives aim to transform Visakhapatnam into a major economic and urban hub.
