**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia:** A 13-year-old boy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, has become the talk of the cricketing world after being picked up by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping ₹1.1 crore (approximately $133,000 USD) at the recently concluded IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah. His base price was a mere ₹30 lakh.

The young cricketer, from Tajpur village in Bihar, India, has created a sensation with his unexpected high price tag. Suryavanshi, who only scored one run in a recent Under-19 Asia Cup match against Pakistan, surprised many by naming West Indies legend Brian Lara as his role model, rather than prominent Indian players like Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli. He also cited Sourav Ganguly and Suresh Raina as inspirations.

Suryavanshi’s cricketing journey began at the age of four. His father, Sanjeev Suryavanshi, built a personal practice ground to nurture his son’s passion. His impressive performances, including nearly 800 runs in 8 matches and over 400 runs in 5 matches in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, caught the attention of the Bihar Cricket Board.
