**Varanasi, November 30:** A cold wave has swept across Uttar Pradesh, with temperatures plummeting to a chilling 8 degrees Celsius in several districts. The plummeting temperatures have disrupted daily life, with dense fog blanketing many areas during mornings and late nights.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the maximum and minimum temperatures will remain largely unchanged for the next four to five days. However, a moderate to dense fog is expected in over 22 districts of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, November 30th, and possibly continuing into December 1st. Affected areas include Muzaffarnagar, Shahjahanpur, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Bahraich, Gonda, Basti, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Deoria.
Ayodhya recorded the lowest temperature on Friday at 8.5 degrees Celsius, while Meerut, Kanpur, and Muzaffarnagar hovered around 9 degrees Celsius. Urai, however, saw a relatively higher maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius.
Professor Manoj Kumar Srivastava, a meteorological scientist at Banaras Hindu University, stated that no significant weather changes are anticipated in the next four to five days, with only minor fluctuations (1-2 degrees Celsius) expected in maximum and minimum temperatures across different regions.
