Sat Nov 30 05:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Telangana Government Appoints Burra Venkatesham as New TSPSC Chairman

**Hyderabad, [Date]:** The Telangana government has appointed Burra Venkatesham as the new chairman of the Telangana Public Service Commission (TSPSC). Venkatesham, currently the Principal Secretary of the Education Department, will succeed Mahender Reddy whose term ends on December 3rd. The government issued orders for the appointment following a selection process which concluded on November 20th. A screening committee reviewed applications and recommended Venkatesham, whose appointment was subsequently approved by the Governor.

Venkatesham, a 1995 batch IAS officer, hails from Jagtial district and has held key positions in the state government, including Raj Bhavan Secretary and Secretary of the BC Welfare Department.

The appointment comes as the TSPSC faces several impending vacancies. Commission members Anita Rajendra and Ram Mohan Rao are set to retire in the next three to four months, leaving over half the commission’s positions vacant. The government plans to fill these vacancies shortly. Furthermore, the government recently issued a GO creating 142 new posts within the TSPSC, with plans to recruit 73, fill 58 through deputation, and promote 11 existing employees.
