**Hyderabad, November 30, 2024** – The Telangana government has announced a significant change to its Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, replacing the existing grading system with a marks-based system starting in the 2024-25 academic year.
A late-night government order issued Friday confirmed the shift, clarifying previous announcements. For the 2024-25 academic year, 80% of the final grade will be based on external assessments, with the remaining 20% derived from internal assessments. However, beginning in 2025-26, the examinations will be entirely based on external assessments, with 100% of the final grade determined by these marks.
The decision, issued by Principal Secretary (Education) Burra Venkatesham, modifies an earlier order that initially proposed a complete transition to a 100% externally assessed, marks-based system for the 2024-25 academic year. The phased implementation allows for a smoother transition to the new assessment method.
