**Doha, Qatar –** The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) announced a significant minority investment in Audi’s Formula 1 team, set to launch in 2026. This marks QIA’s first major foray into motorsports and signifies a long-term partnership with the German automaker. The investment will provide substantial capital to expand the team’s infrastructure, currently operating as Sauber.
The deal, announced Friday before the Qatar Grand Prix, positions QIA as a key partner in Audi’s ambitious Formula 1 entry. Audi CEO Gernot Dollner stated the investment will “accelerate the team’s growth,” furthering their long-term strategy. QIA CEO Mohammed Saif al-Sowaidi highlighted the increasing commercial potential and global popularity of Formula 1 as driving forces behind the investment. This investment builds upon QIA’s existing stake in the Volkswagen Group, Audi’s parent company. The Sauber team, which will rebrand as Audi in 2026, is also undergoing a driver lineup change for the 2025 season.
