**Vellore, November 29, 2024** – Police in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, have seized a large consignment of gutka, a banned substance, weighing 450 kg. The gutka was found packed in 56 gunny bags inside an SUV during a routine vehicle check in Mutharasikuppam village near Katpadi on Friday.

A police team led by Inspector S. Karuna stopped the vehicle, which had Gujarat-registered number plates, following a tip-off. Two individuals, including the driver, escaped the scene. Initial investigations suggest the gutka was being transported from Andhra Pradesh to various towns in Vellore district for distribution.

Police have registered a case and formed special teams to apprehend the fleeing suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
