Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh: Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has questioned the Kakinada port authority about the alleged smuggling of goods, including narcotics, bypassing checkpoints. During a meeting, he challenged the port officer, Dharma Saasthu, about how illegal shipments, including narcotics, are entering the port despite the presence of checkpoints. He questioned the officer’s claim that all goods entering the port have the necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs).

Kalyan also demanded answers about the involvement of several companies, including Ashi Trading Company, questioning the identities behind the names Manasa, Alisha, and Agarwal. He further criticized the District Supply Officer (DSO) M.V. Prasad and DSP Raghuvir Vishnu for allegedly overlooking the illegal transportation of subsidized rice meant for the poor. He warned that inaction would imply complicity.

Kakinada City MLA Kondababu stated that he has been raising concerns about irregularities at the Kakinada port, particularly those linked to the Dwarampudi family, for the past five years. Kalyan urged a thorough investigation into the entire network involved in the smuggling activities, noting that a company owned by a Dwarampudi family member operates at the port.
