**Visakhapatnam, November 30, 2024** – NTPC Limited, a leading integrated power utility, has been recognized for its commitment to girls’ empowerment. The company received the First Runner-Up award in the 2024 UN Women India WEPs (Women’s Empowerment Principles) Awards in the “Community Engagement & Partnerships” category. This accolade celebrates NTPC’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project, the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM).
GEM, launched in 2018, provides education, skill development, and life-skills training to over 10,000 school-going girls from underprivileged communities near NTPC power stations. NTPC is the only public sector undertaking (PSU) to receive this award for GEM. The announcement was made by the NTPC Simhadri unit on Saturday.
