**Riviera Maya, Mexico** – The University of Iowa women’s basketball team extended their winning streak to seven games with a hard-fought 69-62 victory over Rhode Island on Thanksgiving Day at the Cancun Challenge. The win marks a significant milestone for the Hawkeyes, as it’s their best start since the 2017-18 season and ties for the fourth-best start in program history.
Addi O’Grady led Iowa with 18 points, shooting an impressive 8-of-9 from the field, while Hannah Stuelke added 13 and Kylie Feuerbach contributed 12. Feuerbach had a strong first half, scoring 10 points, including three three-pointers.
The game was a closely contested affair, featuring eight ties and ten lead changes. Iowa jumped to an early lead but Rhode Island rallied in the second quarter, taking a narrow 26-25 advantage into halftime. The third quarter was a back-and-forth battle before Iowa pulled away in the fourth with a decisive 12-0 run.
The victory also marks a significant achievement for Head Coach Jan Jensen, whose team is now 7-0, making her only the second coach in program history to achieve this feat.
