**Meerut, Uttar Pradesh –** Seven men have been charged with the murder of 23-year-old Ritik, who died after allegedly being assaulted and urinated upon by a group of men in Meerut last year. Police filed the charges on Friday following a complaint from Ritik’s father, Karan Singh.
Singh alleges that four of the accused – Ashish Malik, Mohit Thakur, Avi Sharma, and Rajan – brutally assaulted his son on November 13th, 2022, in the Jagriti Vihar area. The assault, which included urination and was filmed and shared online, prompted an initial FIR under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. These four men were arrested and later released on bail.
Singh further claims that the four men, along with three additional suspects – Yuvraj, Rahul, and Sonu Pahadi – subsequently threatened Ritik. He alleges that they abducted and murdered his son. Ritik was found dead at a hospital on November 25th, 2022, after reportedly attending a drinking session with friends. While the post-mortem report hasn’t definitively determined the cause of death, the viscera has been preserved for further analysis. Police are awaiting these results before proceeding with further investigations and potential arrests.
The investigation is ongoing, and further action will be contingent upon the findings of the viscera report.
