**Chennai, November 30, 2024** – A 25-year-old migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh was electrocuted near an ATM in Chennai’s Muthialpet area on Saturday night, police said. Chandan, who worked at a Broadway showroom, was withdrawing cash at 11:15 p.m. when he reportedly lost his balance on a rain-soaked ramp outside the ATM kiosk. He grabbed a nearby electrical pole, resulting in his electrocution.
Passersby alerted authorities and rushed Chandan to Government Stanley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Muthialpet police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating. While initial inspections by bank technicians and Tangedco engineers found no electricity leak in the vicinity, police await the post-mortem report to confirm the cause of death.
