Sat Nov 30 02:51:19 UTC 2024: ## Kozhikode Police Launch Trendy Anti-Drug Campaign

**Kozhikode, Kerala – November 30, 2024** – The Kozhikode City police are launching a novel anti-drug campaign, “No, Never,” focusing on social media engagement to combat youth drug abuse. Departing from traditional awareness drives, the initiative will utilize trendy reels, posts, stories, and status videos to reach young people on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.

The campaign encourages student participation through competitions and the creation of anti-drug social media content. Students will be incentivized to become voluntary campaigners and influencers, leveraging their social media savvy to reach a wider audience. The police also plan to incorporate live social media events, music albums, and street performances featuring dance forms such as flash mobs and Zumba. Student Police Cadets, the National Cadet Corps, and the Junior Red Cross will support the initiative.

Assistant Commissioner (Narcotic Cell) K.A. Bose emphasized the importance of reducing demand for synthetic drugs among youth through interactive programs. A senior police officer added that the campaign aims to create “infotainment,” blending information with entertainment to engage viewers effectively.

In addition to the social media campaign, the police are intensifying patrols in identified drug hotspots and exploring the conversion of problem areas into better-monitored public spaces. These measures are part of a broader strategy to tackle the issue of drug abuse in the city.
