**KOLKATA, INDIA (November 30, 2024)** – The 30th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), set to run from December 4th to 11th, announced its impressive lineup today. Showcasing 175 films from 29 countries, the festival will feature France as its focus country.

The diverse selection includes 42 feature films, 30 shorts and documentaries in competitive categories, and 103 non-competitive films, screened across 20 venues throughout Kolkata. The French selection alone comprises 21 films, ranging from contemporary works by female directors to classic cinema and documentaries, with some filmmakers attending the festival. This includes a screening of Germaine Dulac’s pioneering 1923 silent film, *La Souriante Madame Beudet*.

KIFF will also pay tribute to several cinematic legends with centenary celebrations for Tapan Sinha, Marlon Brando, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Talat Mahmood, Mohammed Rafi, and Sergei Parajanov, among others. Special tributes will be given to Kumar Shahani, Alain Delon, Gautam Halder, and Manoj Mitra.

The festival will open with Tapan Sinha’s 1966 film, *Galpo Holeo Satti*, at the Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium on December 4th. KIFF chairperson Goutam Ghose highlighted the inclusion of films projected from their original celluloid, including works by Utpalendu Chakraborty. The festival will also continue its popular “Unheard India” segment, showcasing films in various Indian languages such as Garhwali, Konkani, and Tulu.
