**New Delhi, November 21, 2024** – India has climbed eleven places in the 2024 Network Readiness Index (NRI), jumping from 60th to 49th position globally. The NRI, which ranks 133 economies based on their ability to utilize networks for economic growth and digital transformation, highlights India’s considerable progress in digital infrastructure and technological advancement.
India’s improved score, rising from 49.93 in 2023 to 53.63 in 2024, reflects significant investments and advancements across various sectors. The country achieved top rankings in several key indicators, including AI talent concentration (1st), FTTH/Building Internet Subscriptions (2nd), Mobile Broadband Internet Traffic (2nd), and International Internet Bandwidth (2nd). India also secured 4th place in annual investment in telecommunication services. Further showcasing its progress, India boasts 119 crore wireless connections and a substantial expansion in broadband subscriptions, increasing from 25.1 crore to 94.4 crore.
