**New Delhi:** The highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan in the Asia Under-19 Cup commenced today with Pakistan winning the toss and electing to bat first. All eyes were on the match, not only for the traditional rivalry but also for the presence of 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the youngest player ever bought at an IPL auction, representing India.
Pakistan posted a challenging total of 281/7 in their 50 overs, thanks largely to a magnificent century by Shahzaib Khan (159 runs). Usman Khan also contributed significantly with a 60-run innings. India’s bowling attack, despite using four bowlers in the first 10 overs, struggled to break the opening partnership. Although they managed to take wickets later in the innings, including two by Samarth in consecutive deliveries, Shahzaib’s aggressive batting proved too much to handle.
India’s response got off to a shaky start. Suryavanshi, despite the pre-match hype, was dismissed for just 1 run off 9 balls. Ayush Mhatre, while showing some promise with 20 runs (including 5 boundaries), was also dismissed early, leaving India with a tough chase of 282 runs. The match is currently underway.
