Sat Nov 30 11:51:20 UTC 2024: ## Rain Washes Out First Day of India’s Warm-up Match Against Australia PM XI

**Canberra, Australia:** The first day of India’s two-day warm-up match against the Australia Prime Minister’s XI was completely washed out due to persistent rain at Manuka Oval in Canberra. No toss was possible.

The match, crucial for India’s preparation for the upcoming day-night Test against Australia starting December 6th in Canberra, was intended to provide valuable practice with the pink ball. The entire day’s play was abandoned, with the teams now scheduled to play a 50-over match on Sunday.

Prior to the washout, the Indian team met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Captain Rohit Sharma, returning to the side after missing the first Test due to the birth of his child, was present. His return is a boost for India, who currently lead the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 1-0 after their win in Perth.

Adding to Australia’s woes, fast bowler Josh Hazlewood was ruled out of the second Test due to injury. The second Test, a day-night match using the pink ball, will be played in Adelaide starting December 6th. Australia will be aiming to bounce back after a heavy defeat in the first Test.

Despite the rain, there was some hope later in the day as the rain stopped and ground staff worked to prepare the pitch. However, intermittent rain continued throughout the day, ultimately leading to the abandonment of play. Cricket fans remained at the stadium despite the setback, hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite players.
