**Kochi, November 30, 2024** – The Kerala High Court adjourned until Wednesday a petition requesting permission for a 15-elephant parade during the Vrischikotsavam festival at the Thripunithura Poornathrayeesa Temple. The petition, filed by P.B. Gireesh and P.S. Shoben, seeks to uphold what petitioners claim is an ancient tradition, citing the sale of 14 temple gold caparisons in 1902 to fund a railway line as evidence of the historical precedent for a 15-elephant procession. The court is considering the matter in light of existing guidelines mandating a three-meter distance between elephants during such events. The judges, Justice Anil K. Narendran and Justice S. Muralee Krishna, will hear the case further on Wednesday. The Vrischikotsavam festival commenced on Friday.
