**HYDERABAD, November 30, 2024** – The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s (GHMC) budget proposals for the 2025-26 financial year were rejected by the standing committee during a special session on Saturday. Committee members voiced concerns over the proposals’ realism, citing underestimation of revenue from estates and advertisements. Further criticism centered on the late distribution of draft proposals.

The committee is scheduled to reconvene next week to further discuss the budget. GHMC Commissioner K. Ilambarithi revealed that a GIS survey counted 24 lakh houses, but a ground survey has only been completed for 1.25 lakh to date. Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi confirmed the committee’s decision and the upcoming meeting.
