**NEW DELHI** – Venkateshwar Global School (VGS) in Rohini, Delhi, underwent a precautionary evacuation Friday morning following a bomb threat delivered via email. The threat, received around 10:57 AM, prompted a swift response from Delhi Police, the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), a bomb disposal squad, and a dog squad.
The school, located approximately one kilometer from the site of a low-intensity blast in Prashant Vihar on Thursday, was thoroughly searched. Authorities found no suspicious objects, and the threat was ultimately declared a hoax.
School authorities immediately informed parents and requested them to pick up their children by 11 AM. A message assuring parents that the situation was under control and urging them not to panic was also circulated. Principal Dr. Namita Singhal confirmed the receipt of the bomb threat email and stated that all students and staff were safely evacuated.
Despite the all-clear, the incident caused significant distress among parents. Rati Awasthi, whose daughter attends VGS, expressed deep concern about the safety of her child, highlighting the proximity of the school to Thursday’s blast and the impact of the subsequent bomb threat.
Delhi Police confirmed receiving a PCR call regarding the email threat and deployed numerous resources to the school. While the threat was determined to be a hoax, the police are investigating the source of the email and stated that legal action will be taken accordingly.
