Sat Nov 30 04:46:59 UTC 2024: ## Chelsea Manager Maresca Rules Out Title Challenge Despite Strong Start

**London, England** – Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has poured cold water on hopes of a Premier League title challenge this season, despite the Blues’ impressive third-place position after 12 games. While acknowledging Chelsea’s strong start under his leadership, Maresca firmly stated that his team is currently behind Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool in the title race.

“Arsenal is ahead of us, City is ahead of us, and Liverpool has also shown they’re ahead of us,” Maresca said at a press conference. He attributed the gap to the established cohesion of the top three teams, highlighting the years of continuity within their squads. “Five years together (Arsenal), nine years together (City)… it’s not the points or the ranking that matters, but the time spent together,” he explained.

Maresca’s comments contrast with Chelsea’s surprising resurgence after two turbulent seasons. The club underwent a significant squad overhaul this summer, with 11 new arrivals, 11 departures, and 14 players out on loan. This instability, Maresca suggested, hinders the team’s ability to compete consistently at the top level.

Instead of focusing on the title race, Maresca emphasized the importance of continuous improvement and building team cohesion. He pointed to Chelsea’s success in the UEFA Europa Conference League, where they currently lead their group, as a more immediate priority. “The most important thing is to improve match by match, and then we’ll see,” he stated. The Blues face Unai Emery’s Aston Villa this Sunday.
