**Dubai, UAE** – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has agreed to a hybrid model for the 2025 Champions Trophy, but only if the International Cricket Council (ICC) applies the same policy to all ICC tournaments until 2031. This concession comes after India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan due to security concerns, prompting the BCCI to propose a hybrid model where matches involving India would be held in a neutral venue.
Initially reluctant, the PCB’s change of heart follows reported pressure from the ICC, who reportedly issued an ultimatum: accept the hybrid model or risk the tournament being held without Pakistan’s participation. The ICC’s concern stems from the significant financial implications of excluding India, a major draw for broadcasters and sponsors.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with Emirates Cricket Board General Secretary Mubashshir Usmani in Dubai to discuss the matter. Naqvi reportedly confirmed Pakistan’s readiness to host the tournament, assuring Usmani of state-level security for all teams and expressing the anticipation of fans. However, the PCB’s acceptance is contingent upon the ICC’s commitment to a consistent hybrid model policy for future tournaments, ensuring fair treatment for all participating nations. The situation highlights the ongoing geopolitical tensions impacting international cricket scheduling. The ICC is yet to officially confirm the agreement.
