**Muscat, Oman –** Bangladesh’s Under-21 hockey team fought back from a deficit to secure a crucial 2-2 draw against Malaysia in their third Pool B match of the Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2024. The match, played Saturday at the Al Amerat Hockey Stadium, saw Bangladesh earn their first-ever point against Malaysia in this competition, overcoming previous heavy defeats in 2015 and 2023.

Malaysia took an early lead through Muhammad Danish Danial’s field goal in the second minute. However, Bangladesh rallied, with Amirul Islam equalizing from a penalty corner in the 27th minute. Rafizul Hasan then put Bangladesh ahead with a field goal in the 36th minute. Malaysia responded with a penalty corner goal from Norizam Muhammad in the 40th minute, securing the draw.

The draw leaves Bangladesh’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive. They currently sit third in the five-team pool with four points from three matches. Their final pool match is against China today. Malaysia leads the pool with seven points, followed by Pakistan with six.
