**COIMBATORE, INDIA (November 30, 2024)** – The Coimbatore Vizha’s Art Street, previously known as Oviya Sandhai, will return this year under the theme “Sustain to Retain” (SuRe), emphasizing sustainable art practices. The event, running November 30th and December 1st from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm at the Race Course, will feature nearly 2,000 artworks from over 100 artists.

This year’s exhibition will highlight innovative techniques, including resin art, digital art, 3D installations, and upcycled sculptures created from discarded materials such as CDs and plastic bottles. Organizers aim to showcase the potential of repurposing waste and raise awareness about environmental impact.

The Art Street provides a platform for artists of all levels, including government school students, children with learning disabilities, and women from empowerment groups specializing in sand art. The event will also feature competitions for young artists and aim to promote endangered art forms like tribal art, Pattachitra, Gond art, and Kerala mural works.

Veteran artist T. Mathiniraiselvan highlighted the event’s role in connecting artists with the roots of their craft, while artist Sabari Girija emphasized the importance of perseverance and public appreciation in the artistic process. For young artist K Akil Sree, the Art Street provided crucial exposure and confidence to pursue her art career. The event promises to be a vibrant celebration of creativity and sustainability.
