**Mumbai, November 29:** Jharkhand registered a record-breaking victory over Arunachal Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament at the Wankhede Stadium today. Arunachal, winning the toss and electing to bat first, was bowled out for a paltry 93 runs in 20 overs. Akshay Jain (14) and Techi Doria (13) were the top scorers for Arunachal, while Angul Roy (4 wickets) and Ravi Kumar (3 wickets) spearheaded Jharkhand’s bowling attack.
Chasing a modest 94, Jharkhand’s Ishan Kishan produced a breathtaking display of power hitting. Capitalizing on his IPL experience at the Wankhede, Kishan smashed an unbeaten 77 off just 23 balls, including 5 fours and 9 sixes, at a staggering strike rate of 334.78. His explosive innings, supported by Utkarsh Singh’s 13*, guided Jharkhand to victory in a mere 4.3 overs, achieving a 10-wicket triumph with a run rate of 20.89 – a new record for the highest run rate in a T20 innings of more than one over.
Kishan’s remarkable knock also saw him equal the record for the fastest fifty (300+ strike rate) at the Wankhede Stadium in a T20 match, previously achieved only by Suresh Raina and Kieron Pollard.
Despite his return to form, Kishan was recently released by Mumbai Indians in the IPL. However, his impressive performance has not gone unnoticed, with Sunrisers Hyderabad acquiring him for a hefty ₹11.25 crore. He will be playing for Hyderabad in the next IPL season. Kishan’s resurgence comes after a period of exclusion from the Indian national team.
