Kahl also revealed that Russian defense ministry officials reportedly doubt NATO would invoke Article 5, particularly concerning US involvement. He emphasized that a potential Russian attack on NATO allies wouldn’t aim for large-scale territorial gains, but rather to undermine Western unity and the alliance itself. The increasing use of hybrid warfare tactics significantly raises the risk of NATO invoking Article 5, he stressed.
