Fri Nov 29 00:42:33 UTC 2024: ## Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Takes Oath as Member of Parliament

**New Delhi, India** – Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was sworn in as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Lok Sabha today. She won the Wayanad constituency in Kerala with a record-breaking majority of over 400,000 votes in a by-election necessitated by her brother, Rahul Gandhi’s resignation from the seat after winning both Wayanad and Amethi in the general elections. This makes her the third member of the Nehru-Gandhi family to represent a South Indian constituency in the Lok Sabha, following Indira Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

Gandhi Vadra, dressed in traditional Kerala “Kasavu” saree, took the oath of office along with other newly elected MPs before Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. She expressed gratitude to the voters of Wayanad for their support and pledged to effectively represent their interests in Parliament. Her swearing-in ceremony was followed by some commotion in the Lok Sabha. Along with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress leader Ravindra Vasantrao Chavan, who won the Nanded by-election, also took the oath today.
