Fri Nov 29 15:26:17 UTC 2024: ## World Chess Championship: Ding Liren and D Gukesh Battle to a Draw, Series Tied 2-2
**Singapore, November 29** – The World Chess Championship 2024 continues to deliver nail-biting tension. Today’s fourth game between reigning champion Ding Liren and challenger D Gukesh ended in a draw, leaving the best-of-14 match tied at 2-2.
The game saw a complex middlegame, with both players demonstrating strategic depth. Liren expressed surprise at Gukesh’s Ne5 move, but ultimately the position solidified into a draw by move 42, as confirmed by Grandmaster Judit Polgar. Although Gukesh attempted to create opportunities for a win, neither player could find a decisive advantage. The queens were traded early, and the remaining pieces led to a drawn endgame.
Gukesh, the 18-year-old sensation, secured his first win against Liren in the previous round, boosting his confidence. However, Liren, despite a recent slump in form, demonstrated his resilience, bouncing back from that loss.
The match, being held at Resorts World Sentosa, continues tomorrow with Round 5. Gukesh will be looking to take the lead for the first time in the championship. The first player to reach 7.5 points will be crowned World Chess Champion. Live streams are available on FIDE’s YouTube and Twitch channels.
