**Mumbai, India** – Disney’s highly anticipated animated sequel, “Moana 2,” is set to hit Indian theaters this weekend, November 29th. While the international version features Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the voices of Moana and Maui respectively, the Hindi dub is generating considerable buzz.
Norman Joseph, the General Technical Director of “Moana 2,” revealed in an interview with News18 Showsha that the filmmakers considered numerous actors before settling on their choices for the Hindi version. While Joseph remained tight-lipped about the final selections, citing a wealth of excellent options, he expressed excitement at the possibility of Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt voicing Maui and Moana, respectively, stating it would be a “good option.”
Other pairings considered included Rajkummar Rao and Suhana, Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt, Ayushmann Khurrana and Janhvi Kapoor, R Madhavan and Sharvari Wagh, and John Abraham and Sanaya Malhotra. The age of the actors was a significant factor in the casting decision, Joseph noted, given Moana and Maui’s youthful portrayal.
Joseph also addressed the pressure of exceeding the success of the first “Moana” film, eight years after its release. He stated that the team’s focus remained solely on creating the best possible film, dismissing any external pressure to surpass the original. The team’s goal, he stressed, was simply to produce a film they could be proud of.
