**New Delhi, November 28, 2024** – Four battalions of the Indian Army’s Mechanised Infantry received the prestigious President’s Colours on Wednesday, November 27th, in a ceremony at the Mechanised Infantry Centre and School in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi presented the Colours to the 26th and 27th Battalions of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment and the 20th and 22nd Battalions of the Brigade of the Guards.
The President’s Colours, a highly coveted award, recognizes exemplary service and meritorious achievements. The Army highlighted the battalions’ contributions to various operations, including Operation Pawan, Operation Vijay, Operation Rakshak, Operation Snow Leopard, and United Nations peacekeeping missions.
General Dwivedi lauded the Mechanised Infantry, established in 1979, for its professionalism, courage, and operational proficiency. The award, originating from historical military traditions, serves as a symbol of unit identity and a significant morale booster for the troops. The ceremonial flag bears the unit’s insignia and motto.
