**Bengaluru, India –** The investigation into the murder of Assam vlogger Maya Gogoi has taken a chilling turn, with police revealing that her alleged killer, Aarav Hanoy, spent two days with her corpse in a Bengaluru service apartment. The shocking discovery follows Gogoi’s death, which came to light on Tuesday at an Indiranagar police station.
According to police sources, Hanoy, Gogoi’s boyfriend, remained in the apartment from Saturday, November 23rd, until Tuesday morning, primarily smoking cigarettes while Gogoi’s body lay nearby. The murder is believed to have occurred on Sunday night. Hanoy allegedly stabbed Gogoi after purchasing a knife and nylon rope online.
Police have launched a manhunt for Hanoy, whose phone is currently switched off. Teams are searching for him in Kerala and other locations. CCTV footage shows Hanoy leaving the apartment at 8:19 AM on Tuesday. He reportedly took a taxi to the Majestic area before turning off his phone.
Gogoi, who lived with her sister in HSR Layout, had informed her sister that she was attending office parties on Friday and Saturday before her death. Her sister told police that Gogoi and Hanoy had been in a relationship for six months, having met through social media.
The police are investigating whether Hanoy planned to dismember Gogoi’s body, given the length of time he spent with the corpse. They are reviewing CCTV footage and are exploring all avenues of investigation. No other individuals are seen entering the apartment between November 23rd and 26th.
This case bears a disturbing resemblance to a previous incident in Bengaluru where a woman was murdered and dismembered by her lover. While the police have yet to release an official statement on this latest case, the investigation is ongoing and a nationwide search for Hanoy is underway.
