Wed Nov 27 14:22:01 UTC 2024: ## Cyclone Fengal to Bring Heavy Rainfall to Andhra Pradesh
**Visakhapatnam, October 26, 2023** – Andhra Pradesh is bracing for another cyclone, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a warning of heavy rainfall across the state over the next few days. A deep depression in the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm, named Fengal, by tomorrow.
The IMD forecasts heavy rainfall for the next four days due to the cyclone’s impact. The storm is currently moving in a north-northwesterly direction and is likely to make landfall in Tamil Nadu after crossing the Sri Lankan coast. The state disaster management authority has also issued a warning urging preparedness.
The IMD has warned of strong winds, particularly along the south coastal districts, with wind speeds reaching 50-70 kmph expected from tomorrow evening. Fishermen have been advised to return to shore immediately, and coastal residents are urged to remain vigilant.
The anticipated heavy rainfall has prompted concerns regarding agricultural losses. The Department of Agriculture has advised farmers to take necessary precautions to prevent waterlogging in their fields.
Schools in several districts of Tamil Nadu have already been closed due to the impending cyclone. Parents in Tirupati, Annamayya, and Nellore districts of Andhra Pradesh are appealing to the district collectors to consider similar closures as these areas are also expected to experience heavy rainfall.
The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Specific districts predicted to be heavily impacted include Tirupati, Chittoor, Annamayya, YSR, Satyasai, Nellore, Krishna, Konaseema, Kakinada, and others with varying levels of rainfall. The IMD has urged citizens to minimize unnecessary travel and take all necessary precautions.
